social media

i have my reasons why i´m NOT at facebook or twitter. and if you pin my work on pinterest, please make sure to link it back to me by taking the button on my side: that will bring you to my board with all my art-links. thanks for respecting that.

i consider my blog to be my "artistic diary" - so i can recap what i made and which influences i got (exhibitions etc).

currently i try to publish frequently once in a week (tuesdays mostly)

People with a Google+ account: please leave a direct blog link, otherwise i can´t visit you.

linda & laura kemshall: the painted quilt

for quite some time now i´m a fan of the kemshall-quilts... i frequently click their website to enjoy their beautiful work. i love the colors they use and the motifs like poppy seeds, raven, pears etc.

now i´ve bought their book in which you can´t only see some of their wonderful quilts, but where they also describe how they treat the fabrics... not that i will ever try to make a large quilt, but maybe i can use some of the tricks for a smaller piece of fabric...

to sum it up in short: the book is eyecandy & useful, too!

synopsis from amazon:

This book demystifies the process of colouring cloth using a variety of techniques including fabric paints, pastels, dyes, bleaches and transfers. It combines simple techniques to produce complex textile surfaces, and describes exactly how these effects are achieved with easy-to-understand step-by-step photographs and instructions. Many people have competent sewing skills but lack the confidence to create their own designs - this book will help them to explore their own creative potential to achieve effective and original designs.

(stay tuned: i´ve ordered three more books from amazon and will talk about them soon...)
