social media

i have my reasons why i´m NOT at facebook or twitter. and if you pin my work on pinterest, please make sure to link it back to me by taking the button on my side: that will bring you to my board with all my art-links. thanks for respecting that.

i consider my blog to be my "artistic diary" - so i can recap what i made and which influences i got (exhibitions etc).

currently i try to publish frequently once in a week (mondays/tuesdays mostly)

People with a Google+ account: please leave a direct blog link, otherwise i can´t visit you.

SDC93: Stencils

the current stampotique designers challenge asks for stenciled backgrounds (i used rectangles and letters) combined with a stampotique stamp motif (snowman). this piece is a "hybrid", means i overworked it with a snowy texture (siennaphotodesigns) and added tapes (jessica sprague, color altered) digitally. font stencil std.

yes, it is still white outside : ((

take-a-word: umbrella

oh well, the umbrella is a necessary accessory these days.!!!!!
not good for the mood...
besides a beatrix potter image i used a free texture from flickr here, brushes are self made.

translates: shall we bet we will have white easter?
(texture: sienna photodesigns)
wie heißt es doch: weihnachten im klee, ostern im schnee (und umgekehrt)...
wenn ich mich recht erinnere, hatten wir eins der wärmsten weihnachten, zweistellige plusgrade waren das doch?

AJC2013: word of the week: fish

basic layer: tangies gesso-messy "snow on mars 1"
played with the adjustments "curves" and "color balance" to achieve a blue tone, intensified it with texture "photo tints powder blue" from shadowhouse creations.
added sea horse (private collection) and erased the background behind it via layer mask.
information about the physical description (wikipedia) written with font "skt frankenstein"
all brushes red and blue made by myself

three-muses-challenge: balloons

who knows if the moon's
a balloon, coming out of a keen city
in the sky -- filled with pretty people?
( and if you and I should get into it, if they
should take me and take you into their balloon,
why then
we'd go up higher with all the pretty people
than houses and steeples and clouds:
go sailing
away and away sailing into a keen
city which nobody's ever visited, where
and everyone's
in love and flowers pick themselves”

take-a-word: mail art

there are only very few spreads left in this altered book, so it was time to think about the cover...
i created this faux postage and stamped it with the giant cancellation stamps from ma vinci.
so i think i qualifies for this week´s theme at take-a-word.

but then, today is also a day to remember the shock of fukushima...
we don´t hear much about the people who suffer in many ways from the nuclear rays or lost their home... my feelings are with them...
the government tells us the goods we import from japan are controlled - what a mockery! the limit of the accepted radioactivity is set up by economical, not by medical reasons. there simply is no riskless amount of radioactivity!!

for the tsunami wave i took the famous woodblock print "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by the japanese artist hokusai.

art journal journey - march

"special moments" is the monthly theme at art-journal-journey...
i focused on special moments of joy and fun i had watching certain movies (Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain) or the german humorist loriot...
