another spread in a "stuff collecting journal":
i took an old blue shirt for background.
the flap on the right is colored with pan pastels and a dylusions stencil.
below you see the three pockets to hold stuff.
onto the backside i glued an old map (from a merian magazine),
pockets may be added.

a while ago i had bought a box full of old photos at ebay. a mixture of some cool and not so cool photos, but i decided i will play with both.
photo paper can be stamped well with dye ink, so i did.
and i went through my stash of old tinted book pages to find fitting words.
"da kennt er uns aber schlecht" translates: he doesn´t know us very well!
"bei uns ist alle tage fischtag" translates: we have fish every day
oh, well: "fleischbeschau vorgenommen" translates: meat inspection taken;)

"Please Read the Letter" is a song originally recorded by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page for the 1998 album "Walking into Clarksdale". It was released as the second single of the album.Plant and Alison Krauss later recorded a version of the song for their collaboration album "Raising Sand". The song was well received by critics, and won the Record of the Year award at the 2009 Grammy Awards.

anything that has to do with music... in my case: music sheets
when i was at the sewing retreat a few weeks ago, i started creating "stuff collecting journals".
i take a-4 cardboard and fold it to form a spread with a flap on one side.
the spread is covered with fabric (old shirts), on the top of the flaps here i glued on tinted music sheets.
the pages will also have pockets etc for holding cards, tags...
i embellished them with photos (ebay), tapes, stamps...
on the back of the spreads i will glue on paper (with more pockets to hold stuff), and i will sew the spreads into a fabric cover.

i chose yoko ono for my showbiz person...
excerpt from the song "i´m a witch":
I dont care what you say, My voice is real.
My voice speaks truth, I dont fit in your ways.
Each time we dont say what we wanna say, were dying.
Each time we close our minds to how we feel, were dying.
Each time we gotta do what we wanna do, were living.
Each time were open to what we see and hear, were living.

i interpreted the theme in the sense of "reflections about my life"...
and the song line that came to me was from meat loaf: there´s not another moment to waste...

as i´m going with lyrics in my braille journal,
the current take-a-word challenge immediately brought to my mind
eric burdon´s "when i was young".
another song i always loved, but makes me sentimental easily...
i made three strips of me - baby age, at 10 years and i suppose at about my early 30ies (well, not childhood any more, but definitely young...)
text created with elements from scrapbookgraphics.
background spreckled with diluted gesso, stamped with foam cut with tim holtz/sizzix dies.
handwriting with molotow pens (parts of the song).
well, i shouldn´t have chosen the photo of my early thirties...
now i AM sentimental and will avoid the mirror the next weeks...

my sons always thought this song was from limp bizkit,
until i set them to knowledge that this kind of good music must come from the 70ies;)
actually the song is from the who, year 1971.
and i LOVE it!
i found this stencil recently at a fleamarket and i thought it would be perfect for the music of this time
the eyes are glued on like a pocket, so they can hold little tags.
background frame stamped with foam stamps cut from tim holtz/sizzix - dies.

numbers stencil from crafters workshop.
