social media

i have my reasons why i´m NOT at facebook or twitter. and if you pin my work on pinterest, please make sure to link it back to me by taking the button on my side: that will bring you to my board with all my art-links. thanks for respecting that.

i consider my blog to be my "artistic diary" - so i can recap what i made and which influences i got (exhibitions etc).

currently i try to publish frequently once in a week (tuesdays mostly)

People with a Google+ account: please leave a direct blog link, otherwise i can´t visit you.

ajj: karl blossfeldt

one of my alltime favorites (you can find former entries here):
karl blossfeldt (english / deutsch)
a photographic Artist whom i admire very much.
he was an abassador of the "new objectivity", an artistic movement in photography.

i´m sure you know some of his famous prints:

now i made some Pictures in this style myself
(turned photos of plants i had taken last summer into png, put them on a texture Background from 2lil owls and turned that into black and White.)

next step was adding a film overlay over the pictures:

i printed These (my Printer didn´t want to print in b/w, so i surrendered to that higher power and in the end i felt ok with the sepia tone, maybe even better!).
for the right side of the spread i took an original printing from blossfeldt.
text on Millimeter paper with font castellar.

some of blossfeldt´s plants are also available as stamps (art journey), which i used on my Background.

his work is still available in books.
In 2001 Urformen der Kunst was included in "The Book of 101 Books" as one of the seminal photographic books of the twentieth century.

You've really gone and done it with these pages.
I can't say enough about how much I like what you created here and the rubber stamps are the frosting on the cake!

  12. What lovely and unusual art pages in these subdued and restricted colours. I like the right side very much, the way you have the single photo with the name and the busy background, very effective, and I admire the left side with the addition of the film strip and the very attractive monotone plant photos.
    Great work.
