i have my reasons why i´m NOT at facebook or twitter. and if you pin my work on pinterest, please make sure to link it back to me by taking the button on my side: that will bring you to my board with all my art-links. thanks for respecting that.

i consider my blog to be my "artistic diary" - so i can recap what i made and which influences i got (exhibitions etc).

currently i try to publish frequently once in a week (mondays/tuesdays mostly)

People with a Google+ account: please leave a direct blog link, otherwise i can´t visit you.

***2017***

rummaging in my stuff i recently came across this big (19cm / 7,5 Inch) stamp
and as i had good results with the White setacolor fabric paint i played around
(and found this old red opaque fabric paint in the cellar)...

for my first pieces i cut out "Windows" and laid the contrasting fabrics behind them,
basted and then stitched
(thus i could use the leftover cutouts for another Piece...)

but then i thought this is too much work and simply started to sew on the stamped pieces...

of course all Hand sewn... "slow stitching";)

(did i ever mention my sewing machine died in spring? short circuit, stinky smoke... that was it...)

now i think, this could become a Project of 2017.
alternating with "empty" patches...

sometimes i consider to revitalize my
maybe not necessarily as a strong daily Project, no pressure.
but i think it could be fun again ...
too many scraps  and too many stamps laying around here.
i´m thinking about that.

as this is my last post for 2016, let´s raise our glasses to a
happy new year.

may it be a healthy one...
and hopefully we will be protected from catastrophies of all kind.
thinking brexit and trump 2016 was a tough one, politically
(and we don´t even know the consequences yet...)

let us be grateful and humble...
most of us (art-bloggers) are fortunate to live quite a good life so far.

and heaven must be full of good musicians meanwhile,
it would be good to keep some on earth:)

  1. I love your slow stitching. I adore the way you used numbers for this new piece you are looking to 2017 to finish.

I agree with you about Brexit and Trump, even though only one will ultimately affect me. As I watch Trump call for an increase in nuclear power (and not the energy kind), I worry what the world will look like in 2018.

Thanks for sharing your art, your wonderful thoughts, and your raised glasses with us for T this Tuesday.

  2. As an aside, if you dye with grape juice, be prepared to wash the piece and lose a lot of the color after you do. It's a sticky mess when it comes out of the dye bath, so it must be washed in soap and water to remove all that sweet grape juice. I plan to use alum with it the next time I dye using it.

    Julia

  6. You seem to have fun, playing with numbers. Hey, I didn't know your sewing machine died. Oh no! So it's all 'slow sewing' until you can afford a new one.
It certainly has been an awful year. So many musicians died, and with terrible political decisions in UK and US, 2018 might be awful too, who knows. But lets stay positive. I count my blessings.
Happy T-Day and also a happy new Year,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  7. You must have endless patience with all the beautiful neat hand sewing you do while making your projects. This piece will look awesome.
I send you Happy New Year Wishes, we have all to be positive these day, with so much unrest in the world.
    Happy T Day.

  10. I love your number stamps and stamping. They have a vintage European look. Your idea of making 2017 a scrap-using year sounds fun. I should do that with my paper scraps. I save the scraps because I can't throw them out. Then they take up space and nag me to use them - lol.

Happy New Year and Happy T Day, Johanna! May the world be a saner place in 2017.

  14. I love the way you are inserting/or stitching the stamped numbers down.......such a clever idea.

  16. I like your numbers idea very much. It would be very unique as a small quilt. I appreciated your New Year's wish. Let us hope the fallout from the president elect of the US is not catastrophic. And about those musicians. I feel very affected by the passing of George Michael. So young.

  21. Hello Joanna, a bit late for no reason at all.
I'm always fascinated by the way you cut, stamp, dye and sew, it looks fun and you obviously enjoy it too, what could be better.
Oh, a big yes for starting up your Scrap Squares again (if you want to). Every time I look at them I love them and think I want to do squares like that but of course never could (they would be different).
    Happy New Year!

  22. What a fabulous idea. The 'window' patches look so good alternated with the 'empty' patches and the numbers are such a good alternative to an image.
I completely agree about Brexit & Trump etc. The world seems to be going somewhat mad at the moment. Sadly, I think it's going to take a while to turn around, but we just have to do the little we can and keep working for the good.
