social media

i have my reasons why i´m NOT at facebook or twitter. and if you pin my work on pinterest, please make sure to link it back to me by taking the button on my side: that will bring you to my board with all my art-links. thanks for respecting that.

i consider my blog to be my "artistic diary" - so i can recap what i made and which influences i got (exhibitions etc).

currently i try to publish frequently once in a week (mondays/tuesdays mostly)

People with a Google+ account: please leave a direct blog link, otherwise i can´t visit you.

carnival/mardi gras & muster-mittwoch

again i liked playing digitally with a mug quote;)

we had it all this week: glorious sunshine... and storm...

... heavy enough for carnival parades to be cancelled.
well, not a Problem for me (i´m not an Enthusiast when it comes to carnival),
but from my selection of templates i decided to go with the jesters,
a recurrent motif in medieval book art.

on the next one you can see my printed pattern
(as the Printer does not work well, parts of it come out in red) -
i think i will Keep the Background here as is
(or stitch it in a lighter Grey maybe),
as otherwise the Piece might become "too busy" looking.

~~~~~~~~~
in march the challenge of muster-mittwoch (design Patterns on wednesday)  will be
spring flowers /early bloomers.
short summary in english: hesitating what to do (whether i should Play at all...)
i thought of this old duved cover (early Ikea;)) and i think i will make a "patched work" on an old dish towel...
still in the planning stages...
nun also noch zum mustermittwoch:
erst hab ich überlegt, ob mich dieses Thema überhaupt genug reizt...
dann hab ich die Schneeglöckchen und Krokusse aufblühen sehen...
hatte aber keine lust, welche zu schnitzen...
dann fiel mir diese uralt Bettdecke (frühes Ikea) in die Hände,
schon angeschnitten, weil ich da mal vor jaaaahren eine Kissenhülle damit gemacht habe...
mit Tulpen... also Frühblüher!!
und schön kastenförmige bilder, kann man prima damit patchen!
gut, dass ich das Geschirrtuch vom Dezember mit der gestickten sonne drauf noch nicht zerschnitten hatte!
mehr löcher als tuch *g*
aber löcher lassen sich zupatchen;)
Grünzeug gesucht...
(das muss natürlich heißen: der Fotoapparat...)
und aus dem Bettbezug ein paar Tulpen ausgeschnitten...
soweit mal probehalber gesteckt.
aus diesen vorarbeiten wird dann hoffentlich im laufe des märz eine frühblühercollage:)
  3. Your jesters are so much fun! And I like the paler red background too as it makes the main image stand out :-). What a great way to recycle the old tea towel, I love the golden sun stitching - beautiful! Wishing you a very Happy T Day! J :-)
  5. I like what you're doing with the old duvet, Johanna.
    Mardi Gras arrives here tomorrow and, like you, I won't be getting involved in the madness:-) However, the Medieval jesters are fabulous and very much in the spirit.
    Happy T-day! Eileen xox
  6. oooh beautiful fabric work Joanna! I don't celebrate Mardi Gras and it's not too big a deal in our town thankfully. Love your mug! Happy T day!
  7. Also, dein Tassendesign ist schon mal sehr lustig - und dass du in die Buchkunst-Stickerei gehen wirst, war mir nach deinem letzen Post schon klar!
    Dein Stoff-Fundus muss einfach riesig sein, hast für jeden Anlass etwas passendes, sogar Frühlingsblumen, die jetzt im März so nach und nach sicher aufblühen werden auf dem karierten Handtuch.(..davon habe ich übrigens auch 2 Geschwister mit Löchern!)
    Lieben Gruß von Ulrike, mit momentan wenig Zeit, wegen Medinavorbereitungen
  10. What a great mug lol! It's a shame the weather didn't cooperate. I've never been to a Mardi Gras parade -they're usually much too crowded to suit me- but it's still a shame. So much effort goes into them. Happy T Tuesday!
  14. I'm not sure if they celebrate Mardi Gras here in Spain. They do have carnaval but it's not necessarily on a Tuesday. It was this past weekend. Today (Tues the 28th) is a public holiday: Andalucia Day. Only in Andalucia obviously.
    That mug is great. It made me smile. It took a few seconds to fully understand what it was about.... (my consciousness is clearly not optimal).
    I love what you are doing with an old tea towel. That embroidered sun is gorgeous. You've made it into a painting of fabric.
    Happy T-Day,
    Lisca
  15. I feel horrible that it has taken me so long to visit this week. I fear I'm not a very good host.
    I always love the way you turn pieces into sewn art. The small pieces are great collages, too. You have such incredible skills when it comes to creating these.
    I really like the jesters. Even if your ink is low, the red may work to your advantage when you sew them.
    Of course, I was really in love with your new "mug." It is so cool and shows how clever you are. Thanks for sharing your "mug" and your sewing pieces with us for T this Tuesday. Yes, it's still Tuesday here.
  17. It's great that you are continuing the medieval theme. It's fun to take a theme in a few directions. The image in the final appliqué piece is perfect for Spring. I like the composition.
  18. Your Spring collage at the end is seriously interesting. That is such a clever way to patch the dish towel (and now I wonder why we call it a tea towel here as it is for drying dishes) with the birds on the curve. I like the scraps from the Ikea cover too, and the sun of course. It all goes together so well.
  19. Ich lach mich kaputt, den Bettbezug haben wir auch noch. Aber nee, ich zerschneid ihn mal lieber nicht, könnte geschimpft wrden, lach. ein tolles Bild ist damit entstanden! Abendgruß von Eva
