i have my reasons why i´m NOT at facebook or twitter. and if you pin my work on pinterest, please make sure to link it back to me by taking the button on my side: that will bring you to my board with all my art-links. thanks for respecting that.

i consider my blog to be my "artistic diary" - so i can recap what i made and which influences i got (exhibitions etc).

currently i try to publish frequently once in a week (mondays/tuesdays mostly)

fabric journaling around st martin´s day

the week has been unusually busy with socializing...
i went to lunch with a friend on tuesday and with some ex-colleages on thursday.
on wednesday i was invited to a large breakfast in a Café - for a belated birthday celebration of a friend. you can see the fun started with Prosecco;)

next pic: the week on my fabric Journal...
i mostly stitch on it in the evenings. as you see i already had to start a new Piece of Cloth - but i will sew them together later, as it is better to handle if i work on the separate Piece before

on sat, 4th i was at a reading which was combined with wonderful Music, one Instrument being a blue harp... the Lady played it divine!

i had joy with my feathered friends...
the Feeder mostly is visited by great tits and sparrows
(stamps from stempelmine and darkroom door,
colored in with my inktense blocks)

only once so far i spied a Bullfinch
(i will stitch a sketch if Comes again;))
sorry, blurry pic, but i just wanted to get him anyway.

a woven Piece, not finished yet, embroidery yet to come...

on st martin´s day (11.11.) i became a bit nostalgic when i was at the bakery.
they sold the baked geese i always made when my Kids were Little...
but who said i couldn´t bake them anyway.
unfortunately it rained when the Kids had their lantern procession this year.

the main ingredients of the curd cheese - oil - dough are stitched onto the goose´s belly.

i decided i would bring some to another friend´s belated b-day Party
(oh my, sounds i have a LOT of friends, but that isn´t true. just a few, but all of them seem to have their birthday within two or three weeks...)

kuck an, ein gänse-Mandala;)
hey, a geese Mandala;)

i also made a desert for this birthday,
Rice Pudding with cream, blueberries and crumbled amaretti.

einfach ... leeeecker!!! könnte ich mich reinsetzen;)
yummy!!!

the rest of this week´s stitchings will be shown next week -  not finished yet.

  2. You have been very busy, and are moving quickly with the fabric journal. It is a special way to remember things that stand out each day. I love your embroidered goose and the mandala with the geese. I once had a duck cake pan and so I made a duck cake several times for different occasions. That was fun.

  5. Simply stunning hand stitching again this week, Johanna. You are really lucky to have such wonderful friends to share time with, and that photo of them drinking wine/water? and all that food made my mouth water.

I especially loved the birds, but each panel is so different and lovely. I like that you use different techniques for each panel of the "book."

Thanks for sharing your sewing panels, your day out with friends, your duck cookies (AND mandala), and the rice pudding dessert with us for T this Tuesday.

  11. I really enjoyed your post-a very full week that sounds like filled with fun.
Your baked geese are adorable and I always enjoy your art projects.
it seems like activities like this do sometimes come all at once. we had a good time with our visitors this year and one person said your home must be like this all the time?? No not at all just when friends come down to visit
    Happy T Day

  16. Sounds like you had a busy - but fun - week, Johanna. Prosecco is a good way to start a celebration, in my opinion. The smiley faces to protect the "innocent" are very clever ;-) Your embroidered harp is divine - just like the music. I like how you colored the wonderful bird stamps.

The curd cheese-oil-dough sounds delicious. I looked up some recipes to try and found a recipe for cinnamon buns at realsimplefoodblog.com along with a quote you might enjoy. "Germans are nothing but straight to the point so this quick dough is simply called ‘Quark Öl Teig’ in German, or Fresh Curd Cheese and Oil Dough." I'll let you know how I do with it. Your baked geese are darling.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  18. I love the geese cookies, and then the geese mandala.
Your "journalling" embroideries always fascinate me, this time the goose in the rain with his own lantern, and the harp (very clever), and the birds of course.
Good capture of the bullfinch; we have a regular visitor who does not want to be photographed.
